MUTANT CHRONICLES TEASER FILM

Simon made this teaser for a very little money on four humid days in the summer of 2005. “Everyone keeps calling it a teaser that is really inaccurate. It is a mood piece, something to give you a feeling of the tone that we want to go for in the proper film. None of the scenes you are about to see (or indeed our Mutant!) are in the full-length film. However if you look closely all our soldiers make appearances in the feature version!”  says Simon.

Lots of the crew went on to work on the feature film, including, Richard Wells the composer, Leigh Took our model builder, Llyr Williams our visual effects supervisor, Paul Hyett our mutant designer and Tim Dennison my producing partner.

The Mutant Chronicles teaser was post produced totally in house, literally at Simon’s house! This included compositing the VFX shots, creating the 3D (which Llyr did all on his own for three months) as well as grading and editing the film in HD by hiring in HDCAM decks and running everything through FCP (Final Cut)

Simon comments “It was an amazing work flow,  I really recommend it for up and coming filmmakers. We could colour grade well into the night until we were happy without the clock ticking away as it always does in a facility houses.”
